Many yards north of Atlanta slope away from the house. A pool on that kind of lot usually needs retaining walls to hold a flat area, fill dirt behind the walls, and drains so rainwater goes around the pool instead of into it.
Christian looks at how steep the yard is, how the equipment gets in and where the water runs. His crew then builds the walls, the fill, the drainage and the pool as one job. One customer leveled a severely sloped lot with fill dirt and a 20 by 60 foot retaining wall built by his crew.

Will I need a retaining wall?+
Many sloped lots do. The size depends on how much the yard drops where the pool goes.
How do you keep rainwater out of the pool?+
With drains, pipe and grading that carry water around the pool area to a safe outlet. That is planned with the walls instead of added later.
