Ideas for Canton

What a Canton backyard can look like.

Illustrations of work Christian builds on steep hillside lots. They aren’t photos of his jobs; those are in his project films.

What his customers say about jobs like these

Turned a steep backyard into level areas with retaining walls, then redid the front yard

“After having trees cleared, Christian and his crew transformed our backyard using earth moving techniques and retaining walls to build several different elevations. … Drainage and erosion challenges solved along the way. … Christian re-uses as much as he can, it's not all about "new".”
Tia W. · Google review, August 2022

Fixed a drainage problem and a crumbling retaining wall, then built a pavilion

“He solved a major drainage issue and crumbling retaining wall before building our outdoor pavilion. … During the construction process, the United crew was respectful of our property, cleaning up after each day and storing things out of the way for the next day.”
Walter F. · Google review, October 2022

Working in Canton

Christian designs each pool for the yard it goes in.

Canton lots can be steep. Christian checks how the equipment gets in, where walls are needed and where the water runs before he prices the job.

At the free site visit Christian walks the yard with you. He checks how the digging equipment will get into the backyard, how the yard slopes and where rainwater goes. Then he talks through the size, shape and depth of the pool, the deck, and anything else you want with it, like a spa, a fire pit or an outdoor kitchen.

His own crew builds the pool and the work around it: the deck and coping, retaining walls, drainage, and any spa, fire pit or kitchen in the plan. Customers mention the crew cleaning up at the end of each day, and Christian coming back to fix small issues years after the job.

Questions

Questions about new pools in Canton.

Does the city or the county issue my pool permit in Canton?+

It depends on whether your address is inside Canton’s city limits. Inside, it is the city’s Building & Safety Services. Outside, it is Cherokee County’s Development Service Center. The city’s “Am I in the City?” map shows which.

What fence does a pool need in Canton?+

In the county, a 5-foot fence or barrier with a self-latching gate. In the city, a fence at least 5 feet high with a self-closing gate and a lock at least 5 feet off the ground.

How close to the property line can a pool be?+

Both the city and the county keep a pool 10 feet from the side and rear lot lines and out of the front yard. In the county it can be less where the district’s own setback is smaller.

Can I take trees down for a pool in Canton?+

In unincorporated Cherokee County, homeowners can remove trees without a permit except Heritage Trees. Inside the city, any tree over 5 inches across needs a permit.

Is the site visit free?+

Yes. Christian comes out, walks the yard with you and talks through ideas at no charge.

Do you build the deck, walls and drainage too?+

Yes. The same crew builds the pool deck, retaining walls and drainage, and can add a spa, fire pit or outdoor kitchen.

How do I get a price?+

Book a site visit or call. Christian prices the pool after he has seen the yard, because the slope, the access and what goes around the pool change the cost.

Can you help me pick materials?+

Yes. Christian brings samples and helps you choose the tile, coping and decking.
